When it comes to fashion I am an absolute dud in that area.  Take a look inside my closet and you will see four pairs of jeans(all plack) and a wide assortment of movie and tv related shirts. I only own two nice suits in brown and black  and while my own taste is indeed daft.  I am in awe whenever I see a truly spellbinding costume in a movie  and I imagine just how much effort in time it went in to create something that will forever be immortalized on the screen.

 There is a scene near the end that had me laughing when I shouldn’t have been.  In this scene, our main character is visited by a former colleague of hers.  While in school together, this other girl was clearly jealous that our protagonist got this big teaching job over her.  The punch line comes when the jealous girl admits to having sexual relationships with a mentor of both of theirs.  Only because she thought it would help her secure the job she wanted and it didn’t.  It went to the other girl instead and she is very jealous

It’s when this former peer just casually shrugs off having sex with this guy when it has caused our lead person such great trauma is what I found funny.  It’s humorous, because one person’s tragedy is mundane to another and it’s that  juxtaposition of what the other finds tragic is what was funny.  For the one girl not getting the job was tragic.  For the other hearing someone not be upset about the actions this guy did was tragic.  Im sure this wasn't the intent of the scene but it almost reminded me of something I would see in an early Todd Solendz(Happiness) feature

Reservoir Dogs: The Audio Drama.

 

This adaptation of Reservoir Dogs is something I have wanted to do for a while and I am so happy to have it finally edited and finished for you all to hear. Huge Thank You and shot outs to all the wonderful and amazing women as the voice actors in this audio drama. Big love and thank you to all the great women bands who allowed thier use of thier songs in this presentation.

Reservoir Dogs was originally written by Quentin Tarantino with additional dialogue by Roger Avary. This adaptation was directed and edited by Jason "The Vern" Hemming.

Movies That Changed My Life: Black Swan (2010)

 

It's October so that means it's a good time to look at some horror movies.  Now right away I can hear you screaming that this is a drama and in no way a horror flick.  I assure you it has all the tropes associated with the genre and belongs with all the classics.   Starring Natalie Portman as a ballerina who looses her mind in her obsession to be perfect. Black Swan had a lot of critical praise including Portman who took home the Oscar for best actress in 2010.   Yet there is so much to love about this movie and in my opinion it's one of director Darren Aaronofsky's best films he has ever made.  Listen to Vern explain that even after 10 years, the movie still holds up
