On Christmas Eve in 1998, a cab driver named Ralph(Erik Bjarnar) looks forward to seeing the international space station pass over his home once he is done with his shift.  Working the graveyard shift for a budget cab company, was usually Ralph’s preferred shift, but seeing this once in a life time event was too important to miss.  During his shift we are introduced to a bunch of ecentric and off beat characters. Including, Harry(Darryl Johnson) and George(Peter Foster Morris) two friends out for a good time.  Who unfortunately bring on a drunk, coked out third wheel named Jack(Jeff Dumont) after losing a game of pool.  There is also a mysterious woman who calls herself Elaine(Eliza VanCort) who checks into a motel to write a story.

Marlee Matlin:  Not Alone Anymore (MSPIFF 44)

Cast: Marlee Matlin, Henry Winkler

Director: Shoshannah Stern

 ****  out of Five *'s

Marlee Matlin won an Oscar for her work in Children of a Lesser God in 1986.  At the time she was the only deaf person to receive an award for acting(until Troy Kostur won for his work in Coda in 2021)  After her Oscar win, Marlee became the poster person for a lot of deaf people around the world.  Being tasked with this responsiblity at such a young age has giving this woman success but also a lot of stress as well.

Working Class Goes to Hell

Cast: Tamara Krcunovic, Leon Lucev, Szilivia Kriszan

Writer and Director:Miaden Djordjevic

After a factory closes down and workers start getting laid off.  A small group starts to comminucate with the dead in order to seek revenge from their employers.

The primise of this made think this was going to be an Office Space style comedy but with zombies or a bunch of demons get released and wreck havoc on the upper rich. Imaging Pinhead and the other Cenobites from Hellraiser visiting an office is what I kind of expected from this  While it does have the poor getting their revenge on the managment that let them go.  There is very little supernatural elements in this movie besides one character seeing ghostly images and the group performing seances and rituals here and there.

Day Dreaming

Cast: Yue Hao, Tiantian Fan, Donghai Fang,

Writer and Director: Zichuan Wang

This charming movie follows the day in the life of a young boy who was a very vivid and wild imagination.  While on his way to school he imagines that tall birds are theifs and that's why he was unable to turn in his homework assignment. When a teacher gives him a replacement to take home.  There is a creature that looks like a pile of crap who says that it loves to eat paper.  Also earlier that same teacher gets into a fight with an Alien because our hero imagines it as well.
