Forgotten Filmmakers:Neil LaBute

On today's bonus episode, I thought it would be cool to present you with a new series called Forgotten Filmmakers. Every once in a while I will be presenting episodes on directors who had a very promising start to their career either critically or commercially. But now have falling under.

Today's episode is on filmmaker Neil LaBute. A playwright who started his career making films about 2 men who both decide to romance a woman and than dump her at the same time in 1997's In The Company of Men. He would be the same guy who put CGI bees all over Nicholas Cage in 2006's The Wicker Man. I The Vern want to look back at other films of this once very great director and hope you can forgive him and seek out some of his past works.

Hello Everybody

I hope you are all keeping sane during this whole corona epidemic and more importantly.  I hope you are all staying safe.  With the closing of cinemas around the world, I recorded a quick episode on my thoughts about the whole endeavor.  In no way should I be considered an expert on any of the things I mentioned.  These are after all just random thoughts of a movie insomniac.

Listen Now on Apple Podcasts.  Don't forget we are also available on most other podcast platforms too

The Vern's guest spots on Whatever with Jason Soto

I was recently a return guest on Whatever with Jason Soto.  A fun comedy podcast where Jason and guest host Mary Mitchell talk about random things going on in the world.  On this episode, Mary, Jason, and I compare weird videos we saw on the net, celebrities trying to do the right thing but failing brilliantly, and end with a fun game involving google translator.

If you enjoyed that, than I recommend checking out the very first appearance I had on the pilot episode of the podcast. Jason and I discuss about how wrong people were about Joker calling it white male rage, and we get into the whole woke culture debate as well. Watch video on YouTube below

An NC-17 version of The Muppets. It's Peter Jackson's Meet The Feebles

WARNING!!!!  This movie features drug use, graphic sexual content, gun violence, knife violence, rape, ptsd, and suicide all involving puppets

Way before he adapted stories about hobbits and their journeys in The Lord of The Rings saga.  Director Peter Jackson was making some of the most outlandish movies in history.  One of the most strangest ones was Meet The Feebles, a bizzare parody of Jim Henson's The Muppet Show.  Where you can see a heroin addicted lizard, a rat who makes pornos involving a cow and an anteater, a gun toting hippo, and much much more

Joining The Vern to discuss this one of a kind cult film is Donnie from Cage's Kiss Podcast.  Listen below or on many of our other podcast platforms.

Hello Everyone

I want to announce that we just created a brand new Patreon account.  If you see another one with our name on it.  Please ignore it.  I can no longer accesses that one because the email used to rest password no longer exists.  But it's all good and besides, the perks on that old page really weren't anything impressive.

You will also have the chance to pick topics for future episodes and have the chance to produce and host your own show with me as the guest.  Don't worry about editing because I will handle that issue.

This just launched last night and we only have one bonus episode so far.  It's on the true crime drama Dog Day Afternoon with guest Peter Veunnasack(https://twitter.com/RipCitizen) from various podcasts like Podstalgic, Original Remake, Cobra Kai Pod and more.  I will be adding more bonus shows each week along with main episodes on this site and most places you can listen to podcasts.

Everybody in Twister(1996) is an A-Hole except for Jamie Gertz's character

I recently re watched the movie Twister(1996) and although the effects were a bit dated(Do you really expect me to believe that they could easily outrun a tornado)  It was a fun watch.  I made a quick video that explain how everyone in that movie was a jerk except for the character played by Jamie Gertz.

Shoutout to Catching Up on Cinema for discussing this same issue on their podcast. Episode # 70
http://www.catchinguponcinema.com/

I apologize about how images looked reversed in this video.  It was a test run to help one of my friends with her YouTube channel which I hope to be sharing on here as well.

Welcome Everyone

Horray!!  After months and months of me saying I would have a website for Cinema Recall.  Here we are.  This will be one of the main places you can listen to the latest and past episodes of the podcast as well as my random videos I post on YouTube.   There will also be written movie reviews and articles but keep in mind that a lot of it will be stuff that was just moved over from my other blogs.

This is going to be a work in progress as not all of the episodes are available on here and I'm still learning about layouts and how to make things fit where they should.  Thank you for your support.

Howard The Duck (1986) w/ Cayley of Once Over with Cayley

Howard The Duck   was met with both critical and audience hatred when it was relased in 1986. But is it as terrible as everyone says it is...
