Writer and Director:Marcellus Cox
**** out of Five *'sIncredible drama about a young man who relaps into drinking after being sober for a year and the one man who still wants to fight for him. This is a well shot, tightly edited chamber style drama that takes place in just one setting. Not an easy feat to pull off but director Marcellus Cox does a great job with the material.
Both actors are very good and it's a bit disapointing that this is only a fifteen minute short. It would have been great to find out what caused Eddie to start drinking before he became sober. How his relationship with Baker started and a bit more information about how the accident involving the old couple happened. We get exposition that he lost his job but we don't know what really pushed Eddie or the edge to start drinking again. Nor do we have any insight into why Baker cares so much about him. Still in the short amount of time we spend with these two. It's easy to form attachments and become invested with these characters.
Director Marcellus Cox has a real ear for dialouge and the conversation between both Antwone Barnes and Sean Alexander Jones have real dramatic weight despite only having a limited time with them. I hope he continues to make features in other genres because he has a very promising career if he keeps at it
